What can the typical student of today’s world expect when they’re done?

"Technology has also affected our daily lives, with social change occurring at an ever-increasing rate, leading to different and substantial demands being placed on the entire citizenry. It is commonly speculated that students leaving school today can expect to have 6-10 changes of job, to spend time unemployed, to be involved in formal education throughout their lifetime, to be involved in careers that don’t exist yet, to move away from the place they were born, to be involved in a variety of job patterns and to have at least 3-4 different occupations."

…from the textbook we’re studying in my course (emphasis mine). Interesting that even in a course training teachers that has a lot of flaws (primarily because it’s being taught by a Gen-X that doesn’t get Gen-Y/C but wants to) that they see technology being associated with social change and that they predict such change in the typical life of a Gen-C.

(thinking about blogging the flaws later)
